Renewable Energies in the Earth System (engl.)
Renewable energies are an essential part of the energy transition, and their use must be feasible not only technically but also economically. In this course, we want to acquire basic knowledge about the use of renewable energies, learn about different types of energy and, in particular, gain a better understanding of their resources. The underlying concepts will be developed using the example of wind energy use and transferred to other types of energy. We will go through the basic aspects of planning and developing a wind project and reflect on which (technical, economic and ecological) issues have not yet been resolved and require further development.

Organisation (Institut): Leitende Wissenschaftlerin (Chief Scientist) and stellvertretende Abteilungsleiterin am Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme IWES
Forschungsinteressen / Berufslaufbahn: Seit 2005 in der Windenergieforschung tätig — hier beschäftige ich vorrangig mit der Vermessung und Charakterisierung von Windressourcen, Standardisierung und Industry Best Practices, Angewandte Atmosphärenphysik / Meteorologie sowie Ozeanografie.
Sonstiges: Mutter von zwei Söhnen (14 und 10) und mir ist die Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie sehr wichtig.
