DESCRIPTION:The energy transition requires careful planning\, as energy dem
 and always needs to match energy supply. With the phase-out of fossil fuel
 s\, capacity and grid design becomes more important. This makes energy mod
 els widely used tools\, both defining future pathways as well as near futu
 re investments.\nHowever\, these energy models are often based on techno-e
 conomic optimizations that do not meet the complex realities in which the 
 energy transition takes place. Therefore\, social aspects are often disreg
 arded. This will inevitably lead to problems with the implementation\, and
  might lead to concetrated burdens in certain locations or population grou
 ps. It is therefore important to consider just transition aspects of equit
 y and justice also in energy modelling.\nThe workshop will give an introdu
 ction to energy modelling on day 1 (including hands on experimentation wit
 h an online tool or python)\, introduce different justice concepts and met
 hods to quantify it on day 2\, and go into a co-creation part on day 3\, i
 n qhich the participants will work themselves on energy justice issues the
 y perceive.\n\nRequirements: Rudimentary understanding of energy systems\,
  rudimentary or advanced python skills.\nCredit Points (ECTS): 1\, grading
  possible (Participation in all 3 days plus completion of an additional ta
 sk.)
