The meccanica feminale is a project of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Wurttemberg.

The meccanica feminale is the spring school for female students and interested women from the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, medical technology and related disciplines in the STEM sector. It takes place annually at the end of February or beginning of March, either at University of Stuttgart – Vaihingen Campus or at the Furtwangen University – Schwenningen Campus.

A Place for Experimentation

The meccanica feminale brings together female students and scientists from all engineering disciplines - especially mechanical and electrical engineering - from universities, universities of applied sciences, universities of cooperative education as well as female experts from practice. It is also a place for experimentation to bring new impulses to engineering studies.

The meccanica feminale enables participants to upgrade their qualifications in an individual and learning-friendly atmosphere among women.

The Course Offers

Through our Call for Lectures , numerous teaching offers are submitted by interested women experts from research, science and business. The programme committee evaluates course offers and, if necessary, specifically recruits further teaching. The teaching in the spring study programme covers broad areas of engineering sciences and events that address interdisciplinary topics. Courses on management, soft skills and career planning complement the programme.

For Female Students and Engineers

Courses on basic skills are in high demand, especially from female undergraduate students. At the same time, courses are offered to strengthen the social skills of female students, as well as topics in women's and gender studies. Women engineers who want to continue their education in the context of lifelong learning are also welcome.

The Lecturers

Numerous women professionals use the opportunity to vary their existing teaching concepts or to bring their practical knowledge into university teaching and to further qualify themselves on the way to a professorship. Student participants make creative suggestions for desired teaching programmes, some of which they even offer in the spring semester of the following years or in their home university itself.

Last but not least, female lecturers from industry have the opportunity to practise the teaching situation in a university context and make a university career more concrete. Likewise, interdisciplinary teams of female lecturers have emerged and are trying out new types of events.

The Organisers

The spring university meccanica feminale is a project of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Wurttemberg. The "Netzwerk F.I.T" is organising the event as project management agency under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ulrike Busolt. The project is part of the state initiative "Women in MINT Professions in Business, Science and Research".
