informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg
The informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg is a summer school for students and interested women in the field of computer science and related disciplines. It takes place annually at the end of July / beginning of August either at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Technical Faculty) or at the Hochschule Furtwangen.
The next informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg (#ifbw23) will take place from 25. - 29.07.23 in Furtwangen. Here you can find the course offer and the framework programme after publication, but until then you can still see the info of the last event in Freiburg here.
A Place for Experimentation
The informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg brings together female students and scientists from all computer science and computer science-related courses of study, as well as female IT experts from practice. It is a place of experimentation to bring new impulses to the study of computer science.
The informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg enables interested women to gain further qualifications in an atmosphere conducive to learning among women only. The first informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg took place in 2001, modelled on the Bremen informatica feminale.
The Course Offers
Numerous teaching offers are submitted to the Call for Lectures by interested women experts from science and industry. The programme committee evaluates the offers and, if necessary, specifically recruits further teaching. Teaching in the summer programme covers the entire field of computer science: theoretical, practical, technical and applied computer science, computer science and society, and events that address interdisciplinary topics. Courses on management, soft skills and career planning complete the programme.
For Female Students and Female IT Professionals
There is a particularly strong demand from female undergraduate students for courses on basic skills, e.g. programming in various software programmes.
At the same time, courses are offered to strengthen the social competence of female students, as well as topics in women's and gender research. Women computer scientists and practitioners who want to continue their education in the context of lifelong learning are also welcome.
The Lecturers
Numerous women professionals use the opportunity to vary their existing teaching concepts or to bring their practical knowledge into university teaching and to further qualify themselves on the way to a professorship. Student participants make creative suggestions for desired teaching programmes, some of which they even offer in the summer programme of the following years or in their home university itself.
Last but not least, female lecturers from industry have the opportunity to practise the teaching situation in a university context and make a university career more concrete. Likewise, interdisciplinary teams of female lecturers have emerged and are trying out new types of events.
The Organisers
The summer school informatica feminale Baden-Wurttemberg is a project of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Wurttemberg. The F.I.T network is organising the event as project executive agency under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ulrike Busolt. The project is part of the state initiative "Women in MINT Professions in Business, Science and Research".
