Kursübersicht 2020 – Details

Fachkurs: 20IF-24-HW2 Code Camp (englisch)

Target group: open
Requirements: Knowledge in at least one programming language (Java, C++ or Python). Bring own laptop.
Participants: 12
Credit Point (ECTS): 1
Work for CP: Implementation of a A*/Dijkstra algorithm and MQTT client in a different programming language (either Java or C++).


Using the example of a problem from the field of autonomous driving (path finding or obstacle avoidance using A* search), the participants learn how to develop a distributed application. In a hackathon, solutions are explained step by step using tools and principles of modern software development such as design patterns, pair programming or continuous integration.  In teams of two, different aspects of a solution are worked out simultaneously (obstacle creation, visual representation and pathfinding) and the distributed software development on different laptops and their professional integration into a common end product is practiced. Of course, we only use license-free tools for this purpose, so the common code base is managed on GitHub and remains freely accessible for all participants after the course.

The focus of the code camp is on practical software development and less on the required theoretical content - code beats Powerpoint!

At the end of the workshop, the 2-person teams can compare their different solutions and choose the best solution as the winner.

Dipl.-Math. Antonia Reiter

After graduation in the year 2000 at the University Augsburg (Germany), she worked in software engineering for several companies in the area of Automotive and Aerospace. At that time she implemented different types of software as for example the new diagnostics protocol UDS (ISO14229) or one of the first in-vehicle speech recognition systems for German Automotive OEMs. Since 2007 she is working for Robert Bosch GmbH in the area of software development, e.g. in the tool development for embedded Multicore and AUTOSAR solutions. After five years as group manager, she moved as Chief Expert to the Centre of Competence for software verification and validation of big software systems. Coming with a broad practical experience, she is building up and consulting a huge network of over 700 engineers working in the area of verification and validation. Together with many partners from internal Corporate Research over external Universities to Start-Ups, she is working on concepts and methods for quality assurance and release of connected and autonomous systems.

B.Sc. Aswathi Sridharan

is a Software Engineer graduated in Computer Science. After completing her Bachelors degree in discipline Information Technology in 2013, she has worked as a Software Developer in Tata consultancy services, a multinational Corporate providing IT solutions located at Chennai, India. After 5 years of work experience as a software developer in the field of Web development and Test Automation, she is currently pursuing Master studies in Software Engineering and Management at Heilbronn University of Applied sciences. During her Master studies, she has gained experience as a working student at Porsche Engineering GmbH and made a scientific work through "Investigation of AI driven software optimization to reduce the consumption of microcontroller resources" at Robert Bosch GmbH.
