Prof. Dr. Katharina Landfester, Director of Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, studied chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt. In 2002, she got her habilitation in physical chemistry at the University of Potsdam. In 2003, she accepted a chair (C4) of Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Ulm. Here, she started her activities in the field of biomedical applications in cooperation with several medical groups working on the interaction of nanoparticles with different cell compartments, the labeling of cells and the delivery of substances to specific sides. Since 2008, she is a director at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. She has published about 460 papers in international journals, some 30 reviews and holds 30 patents.
Prof. Dr. Sigrid Schmitz, Professor of Gender and Science at the Institute of History, Humboldt University Berlin, is aiming at starting a project on Gendering MINT digital in 2018, which develops new and interactive Open Science formats to include gender approaches into research and teaching and to promote equal opportunity initiatives in SET disciplines. With a PhD in biology (1992) her research and teaching covers approaches in Gender & Science Technology Studies since more than 20 years with particular focus in gender aspects in brain sciences and contemporary neurocultures, body discourses in neo-liberal societal changes, and in feminist epistemologies. She contributes to the development of didactic concepts for gender studies in SET-disciplines.
Science Event "Science & Beer"
On Friday, 25 May 2018, this event takes place from 18:30. After the official part of the first day of the conference is over, join the participants for some food and drinks at the "Science & Beer" icebreaker event. The icebreaker event will follow right after the discussion sessions. Participants are encouraged to continue with the conversations started in sessions and get to know each other, all in a casual atmosphere and the air of having a successful, inspiring day behind and a pint of German beer.
